      • Welcome!

We are so glad you made your way to the treehouse

Treehouse Music School is a place for the youngest child to explore music and early literacy through one-to-one and small group sessions which integrate music and literacy as one unified art form.

Song and language arts, intertwined as they are, provide the youngest child with the tools to grow into their best selves, to love music, to love reading, to love language, and to love storytelling.

The Treehouse Music Method starts at the very beginning.

With the very youngest Treehouse student, around 24 months old, we begin with singing, exploring instruments of various kinds, singing and reading stories, learning colors, letters, sequencing, and other early literacy and music skills through songs, stories, and books. We also "play" games (these are actually mini-lessons) during our sessions using movement and puppets. The Treehouse rainbow xylophone (which is really an age-appropriate version of a keyboard instrument) is the pillar of these early sessions, laying the groundwork for what is to come.

Once your child begins to show mastery of these early games and explorations (the mini-lessons), we start to explore the very beginnings of music theory using a Treehouse rainbow keyboard that coordinates with the with colors to student already knows so well from the xylophone (remember, that little xylophone is really a piano!). We introduce color-coordinated notes, and compose melodies using these colorful notes as our composition modality. We also start to make up our own songs and stories, narrate them, record them, and write them down.

Our 4-year-old Treehouse students start to transition to a keyboard or stringed instrument as they demonstrate readiness, then continue learning that instrument more in-depth.

By the time your child is 5 and up, expect them to be writing their own songs, melodies, stories, plays, and musicals independently as well as playing a keyboard or stringed instrument (and singing, of course, we're always singing at the Treehouse!).

At the Treehouse, we're here to support your child on their unique journey, from the very start.
